So long, Summer x

Its been a very long summer but I will be very sad to say goodbye! I've had lots of fantastic times over the last few weeks, from finishing exams, to visiting Mickey in Paris, to drinking far too much in Kavos and then having a relaxing last few weeks consisting of lots of lazy pub lunches and long, quiet nights editing photographs.

However I am very excited for the next few months which I expect to be very hectic as I start university on the 18th in Manchester to study English Literature! I can't wait to move in and meet lots of new people...but I won't forget all the fantastic people from home...especially an important few who I'm going to miss so so much...! ♥

Also I thought I would update you with what I am currently reading...I finished both 'Eat, Pray, Love' and 'Tuesdays with Morrie' and would definitely recommend either. I am looking forward to seeing the film adaptation of 'Eat, Pray, Love' despite the mixed reviews! Currently I am looking more into the books I need to read for my university course which range from 'The Great Gatsby' to Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' speech, but in my spare time I'm reading 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' by Kevin Kesey which I am really enjoying! I've not seen the film as I am a firm believer in reading the book before watching the film, but I'm looking forward to watching that once I have read the book. My mum has also recommended 'House Rules' by Jodi Picoult to me but I've yet to read it...However it is sitting patiently on my desk waiting to be read soon!

Can't wait to get back into Literature and enjoy uni life...But I will miss home and there are a few special people who I wish I could take in my suitcase...hopefully I will be home a lot not to miss them too much :)

Keep wishing...X

A little catch-up...

It's been forever since I last posted...and so much has happened since then!
My exams are now all over and I'm currently enjoying my holidays until I get my results on the 19th! I've also been on holiday to Disneyland Paris and Kavos in Corfu...both were amazing and it was lovely to spend time with my family and friends!
In my last post I mentioned that I'd bought 'Eat, Pray, Love'. I am now (embarassingly) only about a third of the way through it due to revision, holidays and too much partying! However, I've been engrossed in 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' so I don't feel too guilty about neglecting my reading! I have not yet started 'Tuesdays with Morrie' but I am looking forward to starting that soon!
I'm looking forward to doing a photoshoot next week of a gorgeous little boy who I have photographed before, but he will have grown a lot since I last saw him! Let's hope the weather is nice as I'm shooting in Grosvenor Park!

Libri

Yesterday I bought two new books....
Eat, Pray, Love (Elizabeth Gilbert) and Tuesdays With Morrie (Mitch Albom).

I saw 'Eat, Pray, Love' a while ago and have intended on buying it since, and yesterday I finally did after an extensive search in Waterstones for it (it's apparently a crossover book that features in travel, travel writing and biography...what?!). The novel is described as "One woman's search for everything", and although I tend to avoid girly books, this looks different. It appealed to me as it follows Elizabeth through Rome, India and Bali on a search for herself. I read the first chapter last night which sees Elizabeth in a restaurant in Rome with an Italian language partner...My idea of heaven! Cannot wait to see how the story pans out and I will let you know once I have finished it.

'Tuesdays With Morrie' stood out to me as I have read one of Albom's books before, 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven', which was fantastic. This novel seems to follow a similar thread; Mitch rediscovers his inspirational college professor who he had lost contact with years before. I haven't read any of this book yet as I am going to complete 'Eat, Pray, Love' first, but I'm sure it will be a fantastic read if Albom's last novel was anything to go by.

However, I've got all these great plans to read these books but I have so much revision to do....I'm really panicking about my English Literature exam and need to re-read 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles', 'As You Like It' and 'Songs of Innocence and Experience'...argh!

I'm off to Disneyland on Sunday and as we are driving there I will hopefully have lots of time to read...Wonder if I can read Tess in that time? X

The Man in Black

I have just finished reading the autobiography of Johnny Cash, and although I'm not a great fan of autobiographies, this is definitely one of the best books I have ever read. As cheesy as this sounds, Cash has always been in my life, I just never realised it. His lyrics, ideas and general way of life make alot of sense to me, and despite being very different to him, I feel that I have alot in common with him. I think that might be why he is one of the most famous artists of all time - everyone can see a little part of themselves in Johnny Cash. I would definitely recommend the book to anyone who is remotely interested in Cash himself, religion, music or just life in general. It certainly has a power to both consolidate and challenge your views on just about anything...For me it was religion, ghosts and friendship.

" When death starts beating down your door, you need to be reaching for your shotgun. And when you know he might be in your part of town, which is true for anyone my age, you should be taking care of business. Quit gazing out the window at the lake and start telling your stories."

Mad as a Hatter

Seeing as I am coming to the end of my A Level Photography coursework, I thought I would share some of the photographs I took for my Fairytale section! I recreated three different stories - Alice in Wonderland (which now seems horribly cliché what with everyone's recent obsession), Cinderella and The Wizard of Oz. I can't really choose a favourite shoot as they were all so different, but the first one and the one everyone seems to like the most is Alice in Wonderland. I chose Delamere Forest to shoot in and it was absolutely gorgeous - me and my mum who came to help couldn't get over how eery the models looked having a tea party in the woods; it looked so real! The best part was when we were leaving and a group of little girls spotted Dannielle and asked her if she was the real Alice! The whole shoot was lovely and having gorgeous models made it alot easier!

The New Girl

I confess....I am bored with Facebook, Twitter and anything similar. That is why I am pleased Rach suggested I start a blog. I will probably forget to post things and it will be the worst blog in the world, but it will be something nice to do when I am bored, read when I'm older and delete when I am embarassed.
